Check out @thelykkecharm who I am responding to in this video! She is a U.S. American living in Denmark and has some great content!

Nobody is trying to fix the root problems we have in this country. Everyone is trying to make enough money so that the problems don't apply to them anymore

Still in the US, can't convince my husband. He just started working for a British company and is so excited about the benefits. The eye roll was audible. WE COULD HAVE ALREADY HAD THOSE AND MORE. 🥴🙄

It baffles me that anyone would vote against more vacation time and cheaper healthcare, but I live here, and it’s impossible to talk to people about it. If you say things like “how can you vote against having more vacation time”, they’ll shut down entirely and go back to believing what they believed yesterday as soon as you leave the room. It’s scary. I don’t know how to talk to people who stonewall their own basic interests.

As someone who has traveled extensively to these countries, there's one MAJOR thing a lot of people don't understand- in these high tax rate countries like Germany, Sweden, Norway etc, your tax dollars are going to what they are supposed to go towards and it's very apparent. In the US we could pay 90% of our income in taxes and NOTHING would be improved because that money goes into pockets.

Half American here raised in Germany. It was my DREAM to live my life in the US. Once I was old enough I applied to a college with a $100, 000 Scholarship in hand (which covered a good chunk of the costs). I got there and I was horrified. These days I'm back in Germany and definitely much happier than I ever could have been there😅

As a German it is always interesting to talk with people, especially who are living in the US and actually compare the nations, the biggest culture shock one of my friends had was patriotism. Like that we Europeans are not that almost fanatically standing behind our nation

I had an argument with my orthopedic surgeon last summer because I told him that for the last part of my recovery I'd be living in London. He insisted the health care here was terrible. I told him it was actually way better. He tried to tell me I wouldn't have access to it, but I told him I was guaranteed access to it. He was really rude and arrogant about it.

Yup. Americans constantly vote against their best interests.

Criticism of your country is not the same as being unpatriotic and it’s important to see the difference, understanding how others do things and seeing where you can learn is a healthy process.

I live in the U.S. and work with European clients as well as adding their HR information to the employee web site. I know this is all true. I see it everyday! I had a French client take 2 weeks off, work a week and take another 2 weeks off. Thank you for creating these videos. I hope more people in the U.S. see your content. Keep up the great work!

You are 100% correct and we appreciate you for making these videos. Most working class Americans can't afford a lengthy vacation outside the US, but education can be provided (such as your channel) that helps illuminate these topics for people.

Great point about inequality and poverty how they combine to keep people afraid of what they are denied experiencing.

I live in Canada and started watching you, Not Just Bikes, and Strong Towns. It's amazing to see how other countries actually seem to listen to and respect their citizens. I would love nothing more than to immigrate to the Netherlands or somewhere around there.

I visited the USA a few years ago. I was shocked at how backwards so much of it was. If Americans understood just how badly they have it, there would be civil uprising.

Thank you.
Too many U.S. citizens vote against their own interests.

As an American it really grinds my gears when people say that America is the greatest country in the world when I know it's not true. I want so badly for our society to function like so many countries outside the U.S. but like you said, people aren't understanding the massive benefits we would get if we voted for policy change. Our system is designed on the misfortune of our lower classes and it really makes me worry we'll never get out of this..

I remember my ex was seriously considering taking a job in the US and I was frantic, one of his colleagues who lived there for a while told me: Don't worry, you'll live with the other university employees in a closed off neighborhood and the crime and the shootings is in another part of the city, all the bad stuff is somewhere else. Excuse me?! That's what we're trying to prevent at all cost here.

I spent the month of June in Europe the main thing I noticed is how much better the public transportation systems were in Europe compared to the US. I had no problems as English was spoken everywhere I went and the restaurant's all had English translations in the menus. The malls were full of recognizable products I was very impressed in the quality of life in Europe from my observations as a traveler all Anericans should have to see what life is outside the US

I'm doing my best to save money to get my passport. My fiance doesn't want to but I told him it is a must. I HAVE to work towards a future in a safer country.
