Hi Doctor Jo. Are there benefits to foam rolling or using a muscle roller stick versus static stretching? Do the benefits of one or the other depend on what body part I am working with? Can I do one or the other depending on what feels best on my body? I find using foam rollers, muscle roller sticks, etc. work better on my quads, hamstrings, and calves than static stretching and static stretches work better on my back and other upper body areas.
