Rick Mercer has done it again, with passion and eloquence!  He manages to get right to the point and entertain us while he informs us.  Time and again I am amazed at his wit, charm and intelligence. Thank you sir, thank you.

If it doesn't make money, Harper don't care. If it goes against his ideology or can prove him wrong, Harper shuts it down. Hate this government so much.

That is true. I study medicine in the UK and I've already noticed that scientists in the UK are far more prolific in discoveries compared to Canadian scientists. They seem to do more with less funding as well. Something is wrong with how Canadians do research.

It is depressing how much our science community has been beaten down to obscurity and science isn't encourage at all on kids.

Also the fact that most science news, even ones about Canada, are only read about from outside sources and organizations.

What bugs me the most, is I feel Canadians are a scientific curious/engaged/knowledgeable population and Harper's government not only does not reflect that but actively represses it.

Well said Rick, Although I think it's also important to create an interest in people to learn more about science and the scientific theory. We live in such a marvelous and awe inspiring world in my opinion, and I'd like more people to be curious about it too.

Mercer deserves an award they haven't even created yet. The guy has been opening eyes since I was a young lad and STILL continues to do so. 

Why isn't he in office?

There is a trend for the privatization of science and research. Perhaps there is more research going on today than ever before, however, the gains from the intellectual property are being shifted to private stakeholders. There are advantages and disadvantages to each side of the spectrum, but we're moving towards private. Arguably this is still beneficial to society but it raises the question about whether it's the best way to approach research.

Rick Dearie, this is sooo right on The Money. After all the photo ops whether they be with Commander Chris Hadfield or Canada's Veterans, the PM keeps on keepin' on - that translates to doing nothing. Frankly Rick have always thought that Mr. Harper is really a hologram...
