As a young Muslim woman whose husband has a lot of gheerah, his what many would label as "controlling behavior" motivates me a lot to fight my nafs. He is as kind as he is firm, and I always happen to agree with his reasoning for whatever he demands of me. I don't think Allah made men the caretakers of women for no reason. It's great support if you have a good husband, just like how a good wife is great support for a man. I wouldn't have it any other way. In fact I couldn't even see him as a man if he was against gheerah, jihad or being a qawwam. May Allah make it easy for our sisters and daughters to see the beauty of Islam as it is.
