@PerkinsBuilderBrothers thank you for revising the video and keeping this build as a healthy series for our young adults to learn from.

Hey guys, Eric&Jamie are some of the most decent guys on YouTube, and in the community, Eric said our displeasure with the ad is "point taken", they are good people and deserve kindness. To error is human. Best builders on the interweb hands down.

In the 1980s I worked for a construction firm in Illinois. The owners were a two-brother team. One was the business manager and the other was the Architect. They designed 3 story apartment buildings and as well some condos. They also did various other types of buildings and remodels. These two brothers had been in the construction business for 50 years when I first began working for them. One thing they taught me was to always nail the end stud of a wall about 1/8" short of the end of the plate. This way when the wall was adjoined either to the end of another wall or perpendicularly to another wall that the plates always butted tight together. I learned a great deal from these two brothers. Everything from footings and foundations to roofing to interior finishes including kitchen cabinets, door hanging, and a slew of other building practices. The only air nailer we ever used was for inside trim work. All other nailing was done by hand, including walking the top plates.

No ads! Thank you. Truly like the real time framing. You can make the videos longer, in real time, showing all the parts like a training video. You guys are entertaining enough to keep it interesting. Thank you.

I sure wish more builders would explain how they fix mishaps/mistakes. Thanks for doing it because it helps me get a complete picture when problem-solving.

I like Jason's style when he sees the finished product in his mind, and has a different idea of how it should be done. I've done that, and sometimes been able to change the homeowner's mind. Some people just can't visualize in 3D is all. Part of the job of the builder is to offer design advice now and then.

Pro tip, cut half way thru on the bottom side of your bottom plate where your door opening is. That way you can very easily cut it out when your done framing!

Back in shop class, thirty years ago, each of us had to build a little two foot tall wall and then cover it in sheetrock. Once that was graded by the teacher we then had to punch a hole in the wall and patch it. On a dare I used my head to put a hole in mine.
Really great lesson and I'm glad I took that class.

The way my crew and I do it is we mark all the walls on the floor first. Then we lay out our top and bottom plate on the chalk line. After that we mark all the walls that will tie into that certain wall. We put the very top plate as we go and leave the space for the other walls that tie into that wall. No need to level one wall just to nail the walls together like they did if you mark where the other wall goes on the top/bottom plate.

I appreciate y'all's honesty regarding the sponsor and caring more about your audience. Just re watched the video to help boost views. I model my own millwork companies business practices after what y'all do! Thanks for building for us!

Bahaha!! If that were my house, the concrete stamping being out of square would bother me for the rest of my life. Every time you look down the run, you will see it 😂

Love watching your videos so much! Was sad to see I just missed watching it after you took it down - thanks for putting it back up without the sponsor. You guys are awesome.

If Jamie ever gets tired of actually building, he should open a building school... he's so good at explaining everything.

Great Jaimie splaining on the framing! Someone else said it - the Queen Stud is the woman overseeing the work! You all met that amazing woman in the last episode!
As the single woman, owner and Queen Stud of the Modern Retirement Build I referred to the master/owner suite as the Queen Suite. I also have a hysterically funny greeting card I found a couple of years ago that says Queen of *#<}ing everything that I showed the PBB crew to bring home the Queen Suite reference. Then Arlo found the perfect housewarming/thank you gift to give me from the entire crew - a metal artwork sign
“Queen Bee” and the QB has a crown and several worker bees (representing the crew as I see it). It’s hanging over the hallway entry coat rack! PBB and crew are the best! Love y’all ~
