I've spent almost 450 hours on this game, and I only JUST beat the Alatreon (final village quest) and also got to the Dire Miralis in the Port Tanzia quests. AND I STILL LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT! GO BUY THIS GAME!!!

I actually used to hate the MH games because of their lack of story. Then, no joke, my friend was like, "You see what you are doing there? Stop that!" the second I stopped looking for a story was the second I started loving the games.

A big reason why this game isn't as popular in the US (and it's a very sad reason), is because it's simply a difficult game.

That's not a bad thing, in fact it's excellent, but many of the new generation have been so used to playing these easy ass spoon feeding games (COD anyone?) where the game constantly pats your back, rewards you if you even sneeze, and holds your hand through the whole game.

Monster Hunter doesn't do that. It's similar to an old NES game. It throws you in, gives you a small dagger, and sends you off, sink or swim. That's how you get good. Japanese players love games with a lot of challenge, that's why they love Monster Hunter, and that's another reason they are more intellectual than the average American.

Where as we love instant gratification and hand holding, they love a real challenge.

This game is amazing, and recommended for anyone with an open mind.

"You pick a quest for the monster you want to kill, you go fight it, and you kill it"

Excuse me, Mr. ProJared, for me, that was more like "You pick a quest for the monster you want to kill, rearrange your equipment to make sure you're resistant to the shit that's gonna get thrown at you, pick an appropriate weapon to capitalize on the monster's weaknesses, make sure you're well fed, eat, gather a party, set out, find the monster, tag it, get your ass kicked a couple of times, kill it, carve it up, then rage because you got your millionth scale instead of the heart you wanted".

I showed two of my friends gameplay of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and they literally BOUGHT 3DS'S FOR THIS ONE GAME.
It really shows how much people love it if they just give it a chance.

I bought the New 3DS XL majora's mask edition *Dies*  XD I was pretty lucky since it was the last one you could get in Denmark but boy it was worth it.  3 days ago I got a birthday present from my friend, and guess what she got me? Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate :3  So excited but it's hard to get into when you are new to Monster Hunter. :)

Revisiting this video in 2019 gives me lots of nostalgia. I remember watching this video when I was 13 and buying the game. Your love and passion for this series can be heard in this review and convinced me to buy it. Though, if I were to be honest, 3u didn't make me a monster hunter fan. 4u made me a fan, but I wouldn't have become a fan if it weren't for this review.

Almost 6 years, I still play it over every other MH game. Easily one of my favourite games, hopefully the Online sticks around for another while longer.

I feel like some people in american culture have a bias towards games from american developers. I don't mean to offend anyone, but it happens SO often that american rpgs get PRAISED here in america while JRPGs or other japanese games get kind of ignored, really.

Both monster hunter and dark souls have rpg elements, but why is it that here in america even the casual player owns a copy of dark souls while monster hunter is ignored? Because in America, american games are the coolest thing, but if a japanese game comes around, people perceive them as "uugh one of those boring japanese rpgs". A similar thing happens with Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat. Historically, SF has been much more successful in pretty much every aspect, yet MK continues to be more popular here in the US. Why?

Be more open minded, people. American publishers keep shoving all their games in our faces, selling them as the best thing ever made. Don't just buy it, inform yourselves better in order to have a varied gaming experience.

This review got me into Monster hunter when it released back in 2013. Never heard about it before this. Things escalated from there, and it culminated in me releasing an analysis video of Monster Hunter's design Vs. Dark Souls' design.

Thanks, Jared, for getting me into Monhun
