I was shocked to discover that this ending even EXISTED in the game. Why wasn't it in the US version?!

That aside, Dark Sakura being shadow dropped in Alpha 3 might confirm that Sakura has been getting some fights against Akuma in from time to time after the events of Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, hopefully trying to control that power no doubt. Ryu & Akuma are pretty much in a similar situation - they have to control the Satsui no Hadou in a way that doesn't make them lose their humanity, whereas Sakura has her own version of it that completely sheds that downside away.
