Scholl has made a career out of Bach and it shows. Plus the cool purity of his voice is ideal for this aria

Dumaux, su voz me impresiona siempre que la oigo, suena muy natural incluso en los agudos.

They are superb, but Scholl is still my favourite.

I love Tim Mead's rendition but when I heard Andreas Scholl his voice just has a timbre (is that the right word?) that just sets him above the others.

Not easy to decide! Mead has the purest voice, his coloratura is very precise, and some years ago I would have adored his version, but now I find that his interpretation lacks a bit of depth. Scholl goes a bit in the same direction, while Stutzmann is on the opposite side of the scale - I often like her very much, but IMO for an oratorio aria by Bach she uses too much vibrato, "drama", darkens too much the vowels ("vollbrocht"). I personally prefer the interpretations by Dumeaux (whose bright voice I adore) and Richardot (I especially love her rich deep notes). Anyway it's a masterpiece in all the versions!

Hmmm, Countertenor- Dumaux; Mezzo/Contralto - Richardot. Overall, they are all superb.

listening to the first notes I was afraid it was the Adagio of Albinoni (or the pasticcio that is know as such) .... I did not know this beautiful aria of Bach's .... how elegant and sensible

Andreas is the perfection plus the emotion, the spiritualitéy.... though I do like Tim Mead, Christophe Dumaux and Lucile Richardot. I'm sorry not to like Nathalie Stuzman as a singer (too big vibrato) - she is an excellent Chef and a great musician.

In this moment I feel closer to Lucile Richardot

En esta aria cobra mucha importancia la orquesta no solo el cantante.
