When you think about SoCal punk rock, you probably think about The Offspring. The trailblazing group are responsible for the best-selling independent record of all time, Smash, as well as hits like Self Esteem, Come Out and Play and Pretty Fly (For a White Guy). Now, they’ve just released a brand new album, Let the Bad Times Roll. Lead singer Dexter Holland dropped by Q to discuss the album, the band's career and his OTHER job as a doctorate-holding molecular biologist.

Great to hear some sincere and thoughtful questions of a musician who is a lot more than just that!

It is a great interview. It's kind of a shame that people just see them as a band because come on. Dexter is really good dude, well educated, contributing to charity and flying people long distance to the hospitals that are far away just for free, because they let's say found some donor, or have treatment available for people in need. No one talks about that. Just want to say tha I love The Offspring, that's all 😎

Looking forward to hearing this album. I never knew of Dexter's education or background. Interesting character.

Would it be possible to ask dexter a question please as I have been concerend about the mRNA vaccines. My dad took two dosages and I keep seeing other scientists and there have been quite a few saying if your body comes into contact with another virus the immune system will attack itself and they will only live a few years. it really is worrying me

I really love this band and Dexter, but definitely the guy should not be telling people what to do, specially to get vaccinated in a song. He dumped their drummer of more than 10 years because he couldn’t get the vaccine due to health reasons. So to me he has lost all my respect, don’t care how many degrees he has. To do that to the drummer was low.
