You likely already know this, but to prevent the cracking and tearing, give the back of your cardstock a light spritz of water before putting it into the embossing folder. I learned the hard way it is absolutely necessary if you ever use 3-D embossing folders. Any little spray bottle will do. The one by Tim Holtz is especially good. Even a light dab and smearing of water with your fingers will work if you don’t have a spray bottle. The water loosens the fibers in the cardstock so they’re not as brittle. Since you’re using such a tiny amount of water, you don’t need to worry about the cardstock warping.
