LEGO Star Wars 2022 Republic Fighter Tank Review! 75342

Here's my review of the newest (and so far this year, weirdest) Star Wars 2022 set, the Republic Fighter Tank! I still can't believe this exists. It's so dang weird... but also good?? Allow me to explain.

I liked how many interesting points you made in the video, most notably the references to mid-2000s Star Wars content and how reminiscent it is to mid-2000s Star Wars sets (which, if given some thought, were all released at relatively the same time frame with Revenge of the Sith). Nice to see that I wasn't the only one thinking that it was rather simple and akin to earlier LEGO Star Wars sets.

I factored its resemblance to mid-2000s sets with the references towards the obscure Hasbro Star Wars action figures and the Republic Fighter tank from Star Wars Battlefront II (2005), and they made me think that that was what LEGO was going for; a set that contained new things, but also had huge elements of nostalgia to it. With that in mind, I believe the simplicity and blocky nature of the set truly served that purpose-- current temporal contexts aside.

I remember seeing purple clone customs from back in 2009 which had their own legion name (and were also accompanying a Mace Windu minifigure in photos) and ever since then, I've always associated Mace with having his own group/legion of purple clones. It made so much sense to me as a kid and that's probably what the customizers were thinking about as well when they design their customs (which were likely based off of the Hasbro battle pack you mentioned).

This set is awesome! I got it last Thursday and it is so cool. By all means, the minfigures are great, but Imao the build is not as accurate. However, I like it. Glad to see you uploading!

I'm honestly shocked that they even made another fighter tank. I had no idea this was a thing until I saw this review. Although, considering how everyone was up in arms about how small the last one from 2017 was, I get it, but still, it is pretty neat to get another fighter tank. I may actually get this one and try to modify it using pieces of my old fighter tank, we'll see how that goes, but anyways, great video, never get tired of your reviews, and I'll be waiting here as always for the next vid. Definitely want those clones but I want two mace windu’s cause I want to use one of them to make a concept I have of what mace Windu survived Revenge of the Sith
