I have a 1947 MEC M-192-5 (Pre Magnatone) amplifier that uses Octal Tubes for the Preamp Section.
Its a 15W combo with a 12" speaker, its a great sounding amp that still kicks it with authority out all these years later.

I love Dr Z he's one of the only amp manufacturers that's not just rehashing the same ol crap and reissues or takes on the top Big 3 amp types ! The dude is awesome

Ampeg and Audio Guild used the 7591. Ampeg also used octal preamp tubes for a time. I used to own a Frenzel amp with the 6sl7/6sn7 combination.

This sounds great. I love watching Dr. Z's videos and just listening to him talk about amps. He's super knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. They're without a doubt the best amps ever designed by a drummer, lol. I hope to own one someday.

We love the experimental nature of Dr. Z! Great demo, always good to see somebody pull out those tubes! (Techs I’m sure were horrified) and great playing too! Good advice to not put this amp on 10! The Dr. Zs are always sound louder than you think. (Personal experience)

Want to try this. I LOVE 7591 tubes. Have them in my 65 Amps Stone Pony and a special Satellite Amps proto. 6SL7s are super cool too. Have them in two BC Audio amps. They have a big fat and warm tone and almost sound like a power tube overdriven. I need to check this Z out! Great vid Mike!

Octals! Was just having this conversation today. My old Jet is 6sn7 cathode biased. Was going to try an adapter to hear 12ax in it. Great video man.
