Reason/Record Tutorial - Part 1.1

PART 1: Creating a Starting Point
- Create instruments with very little tweaking to start recording drafts of the main parts of your song.
- "Get your ideas onto paper."

Background info: I decided to do a 3rd remake of my first electronic song, "Project_1.2". The original version was made using Propellerhead's ReBirth, an old step sequencer with very limited functionality. The second version (v2) was made using OscillaStation 2.1, a freeware multitrack sequencer that allowed me to directly edit the MIDI and add more layers to the song. This version (soon to be v3) is going to be made using my current setup (Reason 5/Record 1.5).

Making electronic music can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. The purpose of this video tutorial series is to show you my workflow from the very beginning to the final mastering of the song. It may seem a bit long, but this is because I'm hoping to show you some of the experimentation and tweaking I do as I'm working on a song.

@Uprightest Thanks for the comment! I'm probably going to record my voice for future videos--I was just trying to get this one up quickly. Also, I've never really used blocks mode before (I started with Reason 4 so I was pretty much used to that work flow). I looked at the video you posted as well--nice setup you've got there!

Great video...wish you would have recorded your voice. :-) I tend to start my songs in blocks mode so each part has its on area...keeps stuff out of the way that I'm not working on. Great video!
