Love this amp, i think it’s the perfect step up after mid-priced to a an allround professional amp. The Grandmeister has all the effects you could want on top of this one.

Hey this is Paul here i've been watching your show a lot the last 6 months or more and have been thoroughly enjoying it and it has influenced a lot of my purchases by causing me to check out things I may not have previously looked for and I thoroughly appreciate hearing reviews from someone who's knowledgeable about equipment nothing irks me like hearing some 20-year-old with 5 years experience or less telling me how great some piece of gear is when he's probably only played one or two in his entire life LOL
.. keep up the great work man🤣😂

Another outstanding demo and playing. Loved the clean channel and the attenuator options seem to make this fit many playing locations. That Tokai loves the amp too. 😊 Great stuff, Shane.

Eh up mate.Beat you to it on this one pal, i've had my Tubemeister for a couple of years. I love it, these things are so versatile sonicly but i wouldn't feel happy taking it out, their a thing of beauty and the thought of it getting damaged, not worth thinking about. Their just so ornate too. They look superb lighting up it's space in the dimly lit music room i have. My Fenders, Marshals, Gibson and the other usual Amp suspects i have at hand but the H&K stays in i'm afraid. Great demo, dependable as ever. Thanks Shane.

One of the best reviews I've seen on this model. No matter how much I like it and would like to have one, it has more than I would ever use. I think it's great for the target market that would take advantage of what would be extra features, including the XLR output. (Just for a point of reference, the amp I play through the most is my Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus - which should give an indicator that I would probably only use the Clean Channel. I just don't think this amp would be cost effective for me to only use the Clean Channel.) Your reviews help me a great deal in determining how to best spend my $$$$ on gear suited for my style of playing. Great Amp and Great Review!! Please keep them coming. (And if I sound like an old man, it's because I "am" an old man!!! 😆😆)

Believe it or not, Shane. I bought one off Reverb last week and the seller is from South Australia. I plugged the amp into my church's sound system via the XLR output and when I heard the sound from the fall back speakers, it was awesome. Better than I thought, especially when the fall back is probably more than 25 years old!

Thank you for doing the review of this amp.

I've got the Grandmeister 36 and I cannot say enough great things about it. The clean channel is absolute god tier. I've got it paired through a TM212 from HK. I actually had the TM112 and upgrading from the 1x12 to the 2x12 makes so much difference for headroom it's not funny and also makes the signal a fair bit warmer which is a good thing considering how bright HK amps are (as you mentioned). It's really interesting to see how someone who's more blues-focused sets the dials on this, compared to mine which are far more hard rock/metal. The one thing this could do with is the boost option that comes on some other models, but considering how great it is as a pedal platform I'd totally put some kind of TS-clone in front of it and get the same/better result.

I'm considering switching to the TM40 from the 36 because I just don't use the inbuilt FX/noise gate/the questionable ultra channel. Great video!

I absolutely love my H&K Grandmeister 40. Insane amount of features, but the Tubemeister is almost as good for half the price of the Grandmeister. The key is the cabinet you use it with. The H&K cabinets are not as stellar as the amps. If you use the H&K head with a better cabinet, it sounds like a Soldano. Insanely good. Alex Lifeson uses H&K to give you an idea of the tones you can get.

I try not to be negative on gear, especially if it’s not what I normally use and I never had experience with, but I just can’t get with this amp. Shane does a great job demonstrating what this amp can do and is quite open to who and what this for. H&K has a good reputation with many guitarist, but I’ll stick to Fender and Marshall amps. I sound like an old man!!😆🤣😆 Thanks again Shane!🎸🎸🎸✌🏾

I’ve a few HKs and never bonded with them, I always had to adjust the EQ when switching channels and while the lights look cool you’ll never be able to tell where your knobs are without getting really close and squinting, lol just can’t see them against that retina burning blue. I also found HKs to be even more “fizzy’ in nature than Marshalls. But they are eye catching.

Hughes & Kettner amps are definitely great amps but they're also definitely not for everybody. They have their own sound and look, which i find refreshing. That's why i've always been intrigued by them even though they're not typically my sound. This is a bright amp but i think that it still sounded good. You really demonstrated really well what the amp can do. Thanks for another awesome video Shane.

Good review, Shane. There's an amp out there for everyone :-) Was that the final outing for the TV Yellow LP Special?

Great video Shane! I've got the Grandmeister Deluxe 40 and I've found that my favorite settings involve a cranked Master (higher than 7) and particularly low treble and higher mods and lows. I don't actually use a ton of gain as I prefer power amp saturation to gain if I can get it. But every once in a while, you gotta melt some faces with this amp. It just loves it. Thanks, Shane!

I had one of these for a while but I had problems related to our UK electricity supply. I had bought mine in Germany and it was rated at 220 - 230v 50Hz. The power supply in the UK is supposed to be 230V AC 50 Hz but most UK appliances are rated at 240v and with fluctuations the supply can sometimes hit 253v and still be within our UK limits. I found that my H&K kept blowing fuses and tubes and after a couple of trips back to Germany it was admitted that the power supply problem was known about and indeed H&K were, by then, supplying UK distributors with amps with a different power transformer and rated at 240v. My fault for trying to save money by importing from overseas. I ended up buying a variac and running it at 220V. It then worked fine. Great amp though when it was running!
