1. Not being consistent:- It is super important to be consistent while learning to code. We tend to take breaks from coding either due to exams or procrastination and then we forget the old concepts. If you are unable to code with the same frequency during exams, you should at least revise the old concepts or do at 1 question everyday. This ensures that you stay in touch with it.
2. Just focusing on theory:- During the initial stage of learning coding we tend to focus more on writing notes or just cramming the theory. Though writing notes is important, it is equally important to code alongside. This helps us to understand the theory better.
3. Coding by copying:- When we learn coding from a video, we are more likely to copy the code instead of doing it on our own. Though it might be helpful for the beginners but it soon becomes a habit for many people. Due to this it becomes difficult for them to code a new question and this makes them question their learning ability and worth.
4. Not understanding the underlying concepts:- You might be able to print a star pattern but if you don’t know the underlying concept behind the loops such as how they work, how they increment variables, difference between post and pre increment, you will face difficulty while using them in advanced concepts.
5. Not being patient enough:- Coding is not easy. Yes, you heard me right. It takes time to understand the concepts and more to learn and remember it properly. Also everyone has different level of problem solving skill and each person takes different amount of time to build a strong base. So you need to be a little more patient with it and don’t compare your progress with others.
6. Coding is not your thing:- We tend to pursue those career paths that are set by the society or which our friends choose. If you are really interested in a tech career then coding is not the only thing that will help you get a job. You can also try designing or product management. Though these career paths are not completely devoid of coding but it does majorly involves other skills too.
