How Twitch's New Shared Ban System Works

Twitch is launching a new shared ban system that allows streamers to share their lists with others. The system does NOT immediately ban people but instead offers information to mods and streamers about people who have been banned in other chats they share their list with. Streamers and mods can then choose if a person is trusted or should be monitored. The system only activates on someone's first message. I like how its not shared ban's across the whole platform, It means that if someone does change their behaviour they are just banned / blacklisted from some chats. If in the case of serial harrasers it means that like you said it gives a window of time for twitch to sort it out if a report has been made. All round fantastic step forward - look forward to seeing it in action in the coming weeks.

hmm i got a bad feeling with this someone will make a bot and if that msg pops up in chat saying "shared ban" to the mods/caster ect they will be auto banned

I wonder if the bans will notify retroactive to the shared channels or only the new bans after the tool activation.

When a Suspicious ban evader user is restricted, they get a message that their message didn't go through "because of moderation settings".
I suspect the same the message will show to the chatter when they go into another chat and are restricted from the shared ban list.
I kind of wish it would just let them chat like a shadow ban, so they just keep chatting.
My experience is they just say "why aren't my messages going through?"
They wont know their message is being seen by the mods unless they read the help articles.

I'd like Twitch to allow access to the banned users chat history from the chat they we're banned in, with the shared channels list's mods. Let the mods aware the user is a problem and see chat history like a (viewer only mode) unban request from the channel that did ban them
