Only speaking for myself obviously but part of why I like vtubers is the mask of the persona. It keeps a safe buffer to prevent me from accidentally slipping into a truly parasocial relationship. It helps me remember that even though the vtubers I like are usually being sincere, they're also performing in a sense. The same way a person performs when talking to a customer or a client or even when just interacting politely with a stranger. We all wear different masks to make social interaction easier and safer. All that is to say that if someone told me Calli was there niece it would make me a little sad because it starts to damage that veil of separation. Not knowing is part of the fun to me.
