How tip for 0 budget is to volunteer with NGOs and convince them to pay for you logistics to film a documentary that they can use in their events and that will help the cause they’re defending.
I’ve been on the road for 2 weeks and filmed a bunch of stuff that would otherwise cost me a lot of money that I don’t have access to.

My plan for light is to get a robust and quality light. I am eyeballing the AL-MX from Aputure as it's dual color and small to fit my pocket.

Find some interesting and local places and do some "cinematic scenes" by just playing with light, modifiers and camera angles.

So yeah, I think your scope is much bigger than mine on this topic.

But your tips towards my audio question are still not clearly answered.
So I got a pocket camera and therefore I would need an external recorder as well. But I the one hand you told me to get an interview setup with and XLR mic and recorder(I might be able to borrow one) and sound design a lot.
I always wanted to do Foley and would have a lot of fun with it. But that still requires a good microphone(probably mono), needs to be small enough and mount on a C stand or something.

Don't thing a lav is great for Foley.

I got a project that is on hold. It's basically a behind the scenes documentary on a theater play, with non useable audio. And no interview shot during that time. It's now 10 months ago and I have used the footage to try my fun with editing and coloring, but there is no way to make it a coherent story without audio. And I don't want to make it a pure montage wit music.

I got access to the final play recording and I might be able to arrange a screening with some of he cast and get some interviews than.
