The little town of Borodianka is located 50 km (31 miles) north of Kyiv. It was heavily damaged during the Russian army's attempt to capture the capital and was occupied for more than 30 days in early spring 2022. The Russians killed many civilians and destroyed much of the village, including its main street. Borodianka didn’t start rebuilding immediately after its liberation from the occupiers; first, it was necessary to document the crimes of the Russian army, account for the destruction, clear the rubble, and develop reconstruction projects. With the help of Ukrainian and international partners, several successful cases of rebuilding Borodianka have already been completed, such as the Administrative Services Centre and Lyceum (specialised school) No 1.

In this episode of the documentary project “Restoration”, the host, architect Marko Savytskyi, talks to residents of the settlements that are rebuilding what was destroyed by the Russian army.
