My name is David, and I play the mandolin. I took about a half dozen lessons from Marilynn at her home in Providence, RI. The way she wanted me to hold my right wrist inward toward the mandolin was very awkward for me. I notice in the video above she doesn't hold her right wrist that way at all. She must have found it to be awkward too! At the very 1st lesson she told me that Bluegrass mandolinists don't allow the instrument to shine in that musical genre with "all those chops." I told her that I disagreed. Bluegrass mandolin breaks really are wonderful and allow the beauty of the instrument to shine like the sun.

I love that Lyon and Healy style mando! Sounds great! I wish Washburn made replicas of the old L&H styles A thru C. They could make the A fancy top of the line model while the C being an affordable entry level model and B obviously being somewhere in the middle.
