Hearthstone: The Lich King with a 760 Dust Hunter Deck

In this video we take on The Lich King, the final boss of the Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion for Hearthstone, with a Hunter deck that costs 760 dust to craft!

Code for deck: AAEBAR8AD40BpAKoArUDhwTJBK4G7QbrB5cIxQjbCemrAp/CAobDAgA=

Strat TL;DR Get Fledgling on board, protect it with spells and minions, while buffing it by attacking. Fledgling has 2 required buffs - Windfury and Liquid Membrane (can’t be targeted by enemy spells/hero powers).

Mulligan: Vicious Fledgling is a requirement, with things like Freezing Trap, Snipe, or other cards that will help you protect it.

Cards to Add: Crackling Razormaw, Alleycat, or any weapons you may have such as Piranha Launcher, Eaglehorn Bow, or even Gladiator’s Longbow.

Cards to Remove: Grievous Bite, Explosive Trap are by far the least two impactful cards in this deck.

There are a few things that I'd like to point out, regarding this fight:

First off all, beating the lich king with the hunter comes close to beating him with warrior, at least in my opinion. Secondly, there are two aspects shown in this video that many people do not seem to grasp: Knowing when to restart, and knowing how to trade efficiently. If you do not trade efficiently, you're going to lose way more often than someone who does, and if you do not restart when necessary, you're going to end up wasting a whole bunch of time.

Regarding the traps: The only two traps that'll matter early game (because all you want to do is setup / protect your fledgling/s) are snipe and freeze trap. If the LK coins on turn 1, he's going to summon a (1) mana minion with 2/3, in other words, no immediate threat to your fledgling, which'll change once he summons a ghoul 2/2 using his hero power in turn 2. Freezing trap will prevent him from being able to oneshot your fledgling, except for the nasty possibility of him having obliterate.

If the LK does NOT coin on turn 1, snipe is the best option, as he'll 100% (in my experience) coin out a (3) 3/4 icefiend. Of course, you can also use the freezing trap here, whereas you cannot in the scenario described above (as snipe doesn't trigger on hero power summons), which is why freezing trap is generally considered to be a lot better.

Explosive trap is overall just bad, and if you have something that's worth replacing ET with, go ahead!

Regarding the "Mulligan" process, keep in mind that this is my way of doing it, if yours is different that's perfectly fine: Shuffle EVERYTHING except for freezing trap & fledgling. Your start hand doesn't matter as much as long as you get freezing trap or snipe on turn 2 (prioritize as described above), to setup for the fledgling, and the fledgling at turn 3.

The negative comments & bad luck may make it seem as if the LK always has either a glacial splinter or an obliterate ready to go, but the reality is that that isn't the case.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

What's up 2020 gang, we out here :D
So I read comments and here are the updates:
1. cut Explosive Trap because its bad and add Scavenging Hyena and Springpaws for an additional win condition where you make the Hyena big
2. We just got a spell named Fresh Scent from the new adventure which can speed up the process for you to win before Turn 7 even more likely if you roll Windfury on ya boi Fledgling.

Good Luck!

if youre playing in 2019 throw in 2 springpaws and 2 scavenging hyenas it makes it much easier because you can get a huge hyena as another win condition

I've literally tried 45 times now but all games end the same way. Freeze my fledgling (that is if I draw it) until turn 7. And holy shit did u get lucky to win after turn 7..

I might as well go win the lottery then buy 1000 packs to P2W this, because that requires the same amount of RNG to win with this deck.

1) Must have Fledgling.
2) Must have cheaper cost spells/traps to protect it (then he obliterates it on his turn 3 anyway).
3) Must roll WF, cant target, and then damge.
4) LK must never freeze the fledgling.
5) Still need amazing RNG like multishot hitting the taunts only, LK playing the worst cards possible every turn, etc.

This deck has zero leeway. One single thing not going your way is GG. And you didnt actually show a win before turn 7, just some more crazy RNG to get to turn 8.

I tried this deck nearly 30X just to see and then said F-it! And went with My Barnes, copy, DOUBLE Ragnaros, DOUBLE Drakkari triggering End of Turn 4X with 2 Rags on board putting out 32 Damage per turn and THAT deck took me 30 games of RNG to win!!! LOL Man, Hunter is a PAIN THE THE ARSE! The only way to keep your sanity for a win is to continue to mulligan until you have at least 2 of 3 key cards IN HAND. I also used Doomsayer. I know this is a basic/budget deck and CAN win. BUT, if you have a few cards outside of this deck you may get some ideas from what I and others have used to finally win too. GL! Tks again TJ! You're Jade Druid deck worked like a charm for me! ;)

If anyone's needing a solution for other decks outside of what Tommy provided, the Vicious Fledgling cheese can work with pretty much any class, but it's generally a matter of getting pretty lucky.

Also for Hunter specifically, Scavenging Hyena is a nice alternative or 'extra chance' on Vicious Fledgling. You need a decent number of efficient Beasts like Alley Cat for it to work though, so be careful.

I found a pair of Smuggler's Crates to be really good in this deck. They both protect your Vicious Fledgling when it first comes out and accelerate your win condition.

Thanks for the video. I was on the right way, but a bit too blind to see a tiny thing. You gave me an idea, thanks. The houndmaster and the windfury-guy-dinosaur-thing. Of course^^
Plus some other things, like spells, what perfect match up with that what the lich king is playing.
The hunter was my lust hero I needed... or well, at THIS poin he is^^ - the rest ive done on my own, without any help out of the internet.
But its no shame at all to 'ask' the community. That's what the community is there for, isnt it? :D

For everyone who reads my comment: Try the 'Doomsayer' and play it on turn 7. Its an easy way (especially for Paladin) to nail his 7th turn.
I won each of my games with this and reno jackson. It was luck in the end... as allways.

Thanks for your videos I wouldn't have stood a chance at any of the bosses without them. The decks do require some rng but patience pays off

How do you win when he always has glacial shard/blizzard for the fledgling

100 games later and I still haven't seen my fledgling adapt

Use a scavenging hyena deck. I got it with my third try after spending 5 hours with fledgling.

Thanks man! I've only added an eaglehorn bow and bearshark. Beat the lich king in second attempt. Same thing with your priest deck.

10 games and I've yet to draw a fledgling by turn 3. FML

After countless restarts, finally got one and wasn't even able to break his armor by turn 7
