Testing New Films on West Coast

Headed out to the sun kissed west coast of the United States, fighting seaspray and sand, I test out a handful of new 35mm color negative films. Reflx Lab Tungsten film, Mr. Negative 500T, and Shanghai Color Film, all got loaded and shot through my Nikon F2 while on a west coast roadtrip. After 2 sand-stained days, I headed up to Cascades National Park to shoot some more film, but ultimately made some crucial mistakes. I've pleasantly surprised with surprised with all of these stocks, and am eager to shoot more in the future! Have you shot any of these? Let me know what you think in the comments!

I roll my own 500t, i use an 85b warming filter for shooting during the day per kodaks suggestion, pictures come out perfect. When i do forget it, its a bit of a pain of turning off my scanners color profiles but you can definitely fix it in post by balancing the whites and adding warmth.

I’ve been shooting reflx lab film for over a year now. It’s a cheaper cinestill. It’s the exact same film with remjet removed plus they offer other films as well. Their pro 100 is very nice as well.

Interesting photos of beautiful places. Yes i would try these films. However. I try to get quirky, artsy, unpredictable happy accidents photos so I would not use a tungsten filter or lights. I want that blue cast . And I would not photoshop any of it out. I noticed you had some interesting sunspots with different colors in some of your photos. To me that added to it.

I think I may have bought the last roll of 160T from Midwest film co and have been kinda scared to use it, saving it for a special occasion. Will that one be in the next part?

just recently I've gotten my hands on Mr negative, not cheap but no arm just the leg xd for me here in Germany there's also Candido (UK) to give alternatives to Cinestill/Portra.
PS: mistakes on film happen, its not optimal but its also not the end of the world <3

Reflx is NOT the same as Cinestill even if both come from the same stock. That's what you're paying for, the exclusivity to a better product CS gets directly from Kodak.
