I Skimboard & Surf and I can agree that Skimboarding is difficult to learn and you will take a lot of falls on the sand. But personally Surfing is harder because of the amount of time you actually get being on a wave surfing. When you really think about it you could be out in the line up for 3 hours and only actually “surf” for a couple minutes. Which is why it takes years of experience to get good, it’s not like any other sport out there.

I started surfing the last 3 days, and my arms could not keep up at all! I didn’t think I was out of shape but jeez it was a challenge. So worth it when riding the waves though

I learned at white plains! I live closer to north shore now, but I surfed white plains for a long time. Probably was out there with you!

Oh man White Plains is the worst place to learn to surf imo! I went there with a friend and gave up on surfing for two whole years 😂 We got smashed, drug down the beach by the rip, were just flat exhausted and didn’t catch one wave. I started learning to surf in Haleiwa in summer two years later and fell back in love.

Honestly I think that skin boarding is a bit harder than surfing. It’s just the work you have to put in as a beginner surfer to try to get some waves.

I plan on learning how to surf while I’m in Hawaii, I’m actually excited to try it out, since I snowboard I’m hoping it kinda transfers over a little bit, I’ve got 5 years in Waikiki 😂 so hopefully I’m decent by then
