I love that you get as excited about blocked doors and windows as I do!

I remember as a small child in Edinburgh going to Milton House Primary School. There was a close near bye and the women who worked in the brewery would slid down the close near next to the school in their working boots making the best sound. I loved those women.

I mind when Cockburn Street had shops like Whiplash Trash. It used to be my fav' street in Edinburgh but now it's changed too much. My fav' pub was at the top (Scotsman's Lounge) Big Murph had it with all the flags on the ceiling but even that's gone 'up market' Luckily I went in last July & I was told to hang on as Murph would be in soon. I'd no seen him for over 10 years so when I got a hug fi him it made my trip a lot more special.

I enjoy all your videos; but these close videos have had me on the edge of my seat; to see what you'll find.

Have just watched part 3 of the closes in the high st. About 2 year ago I went down anchor close for a reason. The reason was because in 1961 after I started my apprenticeship as a joiner the internal partitions ect were ripped out. And the building was made into offices for the council. I don't know for what purpose. It's all closed up now. I was upset that there wasn't even a plaque on the outside of the door. It was used as an Raf club. There was a bar made out of wine bottles which were cemented together on there sides and finished of with the bar top. Down stairs there was a piano and a small dance floor. Even at 16 years old I felt it was vandalism. Anyway keep up the good work..

I'm so happy to have discovered your channel! I had never done much traveling, but two years ago I was on sabbatical leave and was able to study in various cities in Europe (9 cities in 4 countries in 7 weeks). Edinburgh was by far my favorite city (above Oxford, Cambridge, Lincoln, London, Paris, Heidelberg, and others). My husband and I found cheap plane tickets last fall that gave us only 2 days there, so I ran him off his feet for those 2 days to show him everything I loved. I found cheap plane tickets for this spring and will be coming back to Edinburgh rather than going anyplace else! I don't care if I ever travel anyplace else again. Edinburgh is my destination! Your videos allow me to continue to experience that wonderful place even from a distance - thanks for all the detailed videos of such things as the closes and all the little features - so cool!!

I get how you feel about the blocked off doors and windows - i get like that with missing metal railing - you know how most were ripped out during the war - i try to imagine how places looked before all these railings were taken out - you can see where they had been most of the time

I just finished watching this again and saw you went from 1999 to 2000 right after the video finished. Congratulations and thank you for all the great videos!

My hotel was right by Edinburgh Dungeons. I sure wish I had watched this before going...quicker way to the Royal Mile...dang.

Never knew that end of Fleshmarket ended by Waverley. Tips for next time. The lanterns in some of the closes are lovely.

Really enjoying this series on the closes. Visited Edinburgh for the first time last month and spend a week exploring the city. Unfortunately, I only discovered your channel after my return and am starting to realize how I only scratched the surface of that there is to see. Explored several closes but clearly missed many fascinating areas. Next time! Thanks for the great videos!

My fix for today lol. Actually now that I've been there, this series will be, in my opinion, more helpful for my next trip. Got my bearings now. Congrats on your wedding. Sneaky. Officially #Broonfords

Would it not have been easier going down one side of the mile then back up the other side instead of keep crossing over?
Love your videos by the way ❤
