DISCLAIMER: the Power Wheels gearbox uses wheelspin as a sort of "clutch", increasing traction with rubber removes the clutch and can cause you to blow motors and gears; for this reason i recommend just changing the tire with either a NOS or a repro tire

And no i don't own fisher-price and no i dont want your money

Should have filled it with expanding foam before adding the new tread. Cheers

Did you have the tires balanced afterwards?

Should have put the front lip over the back lip. Less catching the edge as it rolls.

Done this for my son's power tractor, he can pop wheelies in hills and never gets stuck. Been on there for 4 years with zero issues and hes hard on it

I took the old tires and cut the "geared" portion off and then attached some dolly wheels from harbor freight to them. With the 18v in the jeep it would pop wheelies about 2-3inches off the ground.

I used to take old powerwheels as a teen and cut the motors out and use the shell as a drifting machine tied behind a vehicle. We did many experiments on replacing tires. Anything with rubber went south for drifting as itd bite too damn much.

Sadly those power wheels wheels are pretty thin and easy to eat up. I think your video is a nice little cheap hack keeping it in service.

Rubber cement would help bond it to the plastic so even if the screw heads wear down the rubber stays attached. 😊👍

Cut the end and beginning diagonally, that works much better

A fathers love and ingenuity can fix about any toy. Looks like an idea my dad would have used back in the day. Yes i would try this.😊😊😊

Bravo, I’d do this straight away before the wheels had a chance to get worn out

I did this to our power wheels when my kids were little. They played with it 100s of hours and we never had another wheel issue with it.

I've used slices of car tire innertubes in the past..
They are like huge elastic bands, and i put at least 2 on each wheel.
Keep an eye on them and replace them when they split.

Did the exact same thing when my guys had a battery jeep. Whole new level of driving over stuff w/out the plastic wheels slipping. You can up the voltage and run 2 batteries in parallel. Lot faster ride. Good job on not throwing it away.

A great idea!👍👍👍
Years ago when my kids were young, they had battery powered ride-on cars. The original batteries were feeble. 6v 4ah & sluggish. So I’d replaced them with 17ah 12v batteries. A massive improvement! The cars made a wicked wheel spin!

Smell the rubber?😅

I did that with a 12inch tire, just cut the bead off and attached with self tapping screws. The screws bite the dirt and ice for really good traction.

I would have used rivets instead of screws and foamed the inside of the wheel to keep it from collapsing more but still a great fix.
