The terraforming of Mars, also known as the terraformation of Mars, is a hypothetical process that would involve one or more concurrent planetary engineering projects with the aim of converting Mars from a hostile planet to terrestrial life to one that can sustainably host people and other lifeforms without protection or mediation. The procedure would apparently require the installation of an unique ecological system or systems as well as the rehabilitation of the planet's current climate, atmosphere, and surface through a number of resource-intensive projects.
