The problem with stop losses is they are usually at rather predictable price points, and most trading brokerages sell their retail customers' trade info to institutional traders and hedge funds, including stop orders.
Instead of buying a stock and placing a stop, you can place a buy order for the price you would set your stop at, or sell puts for that strike price.

I jumped on to TOST way too early, when they went public. Not because of the hype, but because I'm in the industry bartending for the past 15+yrs.. it's literally the most streamlined intuitive user interface I've ever worked with..so I bought in when it went public...I got beat pretty bad because I went in early..lost +45% in first couple months.. now I'm down %25 . Glad to hear it might be turning the corner for me.
