The Cutjack was my go-to beater - the best knife in the price range. It's place in my heart is now occupied by the Civivi Praxis. It costs $42.50, flips a lot better than the Cutjack, and is so elegant that I hesitate to use it in the beater role. With OD green G10 scales and the gold-anodized liners it's a beauty!

My D2 cutjack flips open with out any issues; have you lubed the bushings and pivot plus adjust the pivot screw.

Those knives Are Not Steel Will's designs, they are Copies of other companies popular knives, SW just tweaked them alittle . Take the Cutjack , open it, and lay it on top of the Cold Steel Am.Lawman its a 90% copy, you won't believe your eyes, and the Modust is a copy of the Zero Tolerance ZT 0770, and there are a few more . Its really sad. I could have done that, and think of all the money I would have made . Don't get me wrong, I also like these knives, but you can't copy things in this country and call it your own, this is not China, but obviously Steel Will is a Chinese company that thinks its still at home .

The term is detent ball, on flippers to get a good action that is one of if not the most important aspect

OMG...you could have bought 4 more D2 Cutjacks with that money, and had some pocket change too!

That carbon fiber version is really nice. $200 bucks though

I have the cutjack in d2 and planned on getting the cutjack in m390, and wanted it soo bad. Then I just stumbled upon the modus in m390...and I instantly knew I was going to "cheat" on the cutjack too haha. Definetly buying the modus in m390 instead like tonorrow. I love the look of the blade way more than the cutjack. Can't wait!

I have d2 version of the Modus and the flipper action is spot on. I have adjusted the pivot screw and lubed with blue lube as I do with all my knives. I don’t have a Cutjack to compare to my Modus. I believe the other difference besides the steel is the d2 models are on washers, while the m390 models are on bearings.

I had the same problem, I bought a m390 cutjack and said this is it I don’t need another knife. Then I saw the modus...I bought the d2 modus and pre ordered a CF modus

The Modus flips better because the M390 versions of these knives have bearings and the D2 version do not . My D2 Cutjack flips great . Too bad Steel Will had to steal these knife designs from other companies, the Modus is based on the ZT 0770, the Cutjack is based on the Am.Lawman, the Roamer is based on the Schrade Schf37 and Schf51, and their knife sheaths are modeled after the Cold Steel Secure X sheaths, and thats just what I've noticed so far . Just my 2 cents ...
