How do you put it out? YOU DONT. you get out of the way. With this huge area burning, and 100 mph winds, you could have million firemen there, and it would make no difference. Run.

as someone that lives on the beach in socal - the assumption is that 'wildfires' only hit in the mountains - but to see the pch on fire - wow ..

This is the info and the maps I needed to see, being so familiar with the area. Hard times ahead, help each other out.

Bless the land, the skies, and the seas. May healing rain quench the fires, and may unity bring neighbors together to rebuild, hand in hand.

As someone who lived in California, Wildfires were so common, That people living in the state expected them Constantly. Just like how we expect the big one to hit Is at any time. This isn't national news. This is seasonal/regular weather conditions.

Why are there always a dozen people standing behind the spokesperson? Shouldn't they be working on something?

If it had to happen, thank God it happened to this area. There are 75, 000 homeless in LA County. Most of the people who lost their homes in Pacific Palisades have the resources to go to hotels. Most of the homes have values based on their location - the land - which remains. The costs to rebuild homes is a small percentage of the overall value/loss. This demographic, in general, does not need relief donations. It’s tragic relative to how they live their lives and the irreplaceable items lost, and loss of life if any (we haven’t heard of any from Palisades), and they certainly are devastated. But we don’t have to talk about third world countries to help give them perspective, the middle class and poor are just a stone’s throw from the affected neighborhood and could use donations more. It would be helpful if the displaced rich pitched some tents in downtown L.A. and lived with the homeless for a while. The #1 cause of strife in the world is Financial Crime. That said, we wish those who’ve lost their homes a smooth transition to re-establish their affluent lifestyles.

All those houses & businesses that you've seen along the > surf-line < driving the coast road (PCH) from Santa Monica into Malibu 'proper' are gone. You've seen them in countless movies and t.v. shows. The Palisades fire burns right down to the beach sand as it spreads.
Just as devastating is the Eaton fire which has pushed down by the wind from the foothills into the usual 'grided', flat neighborhoods you associate so cal with.

I hate when the news interviews random people. EVERYBODY in LA has a fire story. Can we just have the facts?

I'm pretty sure there's one random crazy person going out there starting fires and getting aways with it

It’s funny how people say climate change isn’t real but their insurance is skyrocketing. It never clicks that insurance companies are pricing it in.

We don't know what and/or who started the fires. We only know how they spread after being started.

And the insurance companies dropping fire from their coverage months before this? I will check who will be buying the land after this.

We all need to start asking the right question. What started the fire in the first place? Someone had to have started it cuz it just doesn't just magically appear

LA you are in my prayers. This is incredibly sad and I feel for those who lost their homes and all their possessions in those homes. Nothing tugs on my heartstrings like seeing homes being burnt like this. Oddly, what comes to mind is the hot climate, and the droughts that are normal to California. Wouldn't the super wealthy invest in their own firefighting equipment and indoor sprinklers to defend? Even just regular people (non-celebs) in certain dry areas have to buy their own fire fighting equipment, at times. It is not uncommon for people who live in areas prone to drought and high temperatures to have their own firefighting supplies, such as a nice big truck with water tanks and pressure hoses.
