We recently drove to Antalya in Turkey from our home close to Sunny Beach in Bulgaria. This was our third road trip into Turkey. The trip took us three full days.

Our long road trip was well worth while. The resort was beautiful, well maintained and well thought out. There were flowers everywhere (I must get some Mexican petunias for my own garden!). Our room was spacious. the bed was comfortable. We had a nice balcony to sit out on. The food was delicious and the staff were amazing. But of course the best part of the entire trip was spending time with our family who had flown over from England.

This is a comparison of the tourist resort of Antalya with the tourist resorts of Sunny Beach and Nesebar from our perspective.

We compare prices – we found that Bulgaria was definitely cheaper than Turkey. We compare the food – we love the Turkish food! We look at travel costs and accommodation and also things to do and places to go.

——————————————————————-

We are an English couple living in a rural village in the Bulgarian countryside – a place where time seems to have stood still.

We make videos about life here with an emphasis on Slow living and Cottagecore, rustic interiors, Self-sufficiency, local customs and traditions, home cooked food from scratch, renovating an old property, and the beautiful countryside around our home.

Perhaps your dream has been to take early retirement? Or to afford your own small farm or homestead? Or maybe you just want to take a relaxing holiday in a beautiful sunny location.

We have been able to realise our own dreams of doing all of the above. We have created this channel to provide help, advice and information for anyone wishing to do the same, and to celebrate this beautiful location.

I thought that I would just share our recent holiday to Turkey. One of the good things about living in Bulgaria is the close proximity to the surrounding countries by Land. We are literally about an hour maybe an hour and a half away from the Turkish border. We decided to drive to Antalya to visit our family who were travelling to Turkey from England. We had an amazing holiday. However, we were rather disappointed because everyone had told us that turkey was very cheap but we didn’t find it cheaper than Bulgaria at all! nonetheless, we had an amazing holiday and it was lovely to see our family
Has anyone been to Turkey recently and if so, did you find it more expensive than anticipated?

I absolutely agree with you. Turkish hotels and food are better. Turkish prices at 5 star all-inclusive hotels are lower, and at the same time, the quality is better.
