Everyone PLEASE try this game yourself first.

You can get a ton out of it (and probably see the credits) in much less time than watching this video. If you are the type of person excited to hear FP talk about this for 10 hours then you will probably find Immortality be one of the best of all time.

If you've ever side-eyed Ulysses or Citizen Kane or Ocarina of Time and their fame, this is also your chance to actually experience something medium/mind/ground-breaking first hand rather than through foot-notes, history, and second-hand analysis; don't waste it.

And I'm not trying to say it's flawless or gas it up too much: you might find its mechanics a bit clunky or opaque and its narrative/pathos may not connect with you; that's okay too. Feel free to refund it and come back if you hate it. But like eg. Outer Wilds it's a shame to see people spoil themselves and trade a truly unique experience for a "neat video essay" (no matter good, as FP's stuff always is).

I won't overshadow the already pinned comment, but I wanted to thank everybody who caught that MAJOR editing mistake, it looks like the youtube editor did a good job at removing it after the fact. Initially Ambrosio asks god for a sign that he shouldnt be burned at the stake and then realizes that if he receives no sign he needs to burn. He then switches to asking for a sign that he should burn and when he receives none he uses it as a "permission"

I notice that the choice of the poem The Walrus and the Carpenter is a story about predators tricking their prey into believing that they are going to go on a fun adventure before breaking that trust and consuming them, so the inverted version putting the director through a more overtly sadistic version of the audition process reads to me as a commentary on predacious men in Hollywood using their position to coerce young women into non consensual activities for the sake of their career.

I feel like there's a clear critique of the film industry being made with that scene and the way that the misogynistic tendencies of these predatory men inform the stories they tell, such as casting the naive young girl that they exploited sexually as a temptress intent on seducing and destroying men. It's in these reversed scenes that I think we see the true version of the actress, the one who experienced these things and who is generally hidden from view in favour of a more idealised public persona. The one who gets to go back to those moments and take ownership of them, inflicting revenge on those who inflicted that trauma upon her.

I'll never, ever forget finding The One for the first time. It was that Minsky scene in the interrogation room. I was shocked, frozen in place. Unable to comprehend what was happening. It was a VIOLENT shift in interest and it made me obsessed.

"Her Story" has become one of my favorites, editing errors and all. I love how genuine your reactions and takes are. The Theories are interesting, revalations are well paced and the skits were funny as usual.

It took me 3 days to get through this video, and I enjoyed every moment of it. Every avenue is explored, but in a way that enhances the source material, not bogging it down.

In short, you're a real one Mr peacock. I genuinely wish you all the success, and hope that "The One" doesn't curse you with immortality, just with those sick ass dance moves.
