Released in 1980, Crazy Train marked the debut single of English heavy metal vocalist Ozzy Osbourne from his first solo album, titled Blizzard of Ozz. After leaving Black Sabbath in 1978, Crazy Train was a triumph for the prince of darkness proving he could succeed outside of Sabbath. The song was written by Osbourne, Randy Rhoads, and Bob Daisley. The lyrics deal with the subject of the Cold War and the fear of annihilation that existed during this period. Masterminded by late, great guitarist Randy Rhoads, the riff's got a unique blend of heavy metal and classical music. Bassist Daisley recalls, before we even had a title Randy and I were working on the music when a chugging sound was coming through randy's amp from his effects pedal. He said that sounds like a train. But it sounds nuts. And I said yeah, A crazy train. The song went on to become a timeless anthem which includes what some would say the greatest guitar solo ever!

Crazy train was the very first song I learned how to play on the guitar back in the 80’s. I was a huge fan of Randy Rhoads second to only EVH.
