Return of the Seven - Mediocre movie? Magnificent music!

Return of the Seven was the first sequel to 1960’s The Magnificent Seven and it flickered on to cinema screens in 1966.

It’s a little weird to think that the original Oscar nominated, hugely popular, and influential Magnificent Seven score never got a contemporaneous soundtrack release.

However, in 1966 Elmer Bernstein gave us a great curated selection of the best parts from his first score on vinyl record.

And it was all recorded beautifully in stereo at CTS Studios in London by the wonderful Jack Clegg.

It’s available, remastered, as part of The Magnificent Seven Collection from Quartet Records.

This is not meant to be particularly insightful or anything, just a bit of fun.
