One of best points Leighton ever made was the reason the triune God is glorified is not because of a sovereign decree but because God the Son humbled himself to point of death even death on a cross, willing to die for his enemies and bring them to glory and redemption.

Gods Glory is reveled in that He died while we were yet still sinners. Meaning before we could do anything good for Him, He loved us. The Bible also says it’s difficult to find anyone to die for a good person but God in mercy died for the wicked. This is where His glory is revealed.

But, God gave me depression, so I could support someone else that He gave depression, so that they can in turn help someone else that He gave depression to, etc? And the fact that God causes all evil and sin and tells us all that we’re worthless and sets us up to fail to make Himself look good is exactly what abusive people and bullies do. When I was first exposed to what I'll call hard core Calvinism I was appalled. They insisted that somehow if God wasn't in complete control of everything it somehow diminished Hus Sovernty. And I don't get it. Has God no right to let us have free will? Is that not an act of His Sovereign will to give us that gift? Is He not willing to risk that His greatest creation might reject Him? Is that too much for His ego?
