Is Paramount SAVED? Skydance is reportedly taking the ailing Hollywood studio, which is in such a decimated state it might even sell the historic lot. Does this mean John Lasseter might get to be put in charge of animation after all...?

Paramount is in talks for a potential merger with Skydance, potentially being sold off for parts, with other bidders in play, and potential changes in leadership and direction for the company.

00:00 Paramount and Skydance are in talks for a potential merger due to Paramount's financial struggles and the $2.4 billion deal with Skydance is back on after being thought dead.

03:20 Skydance may be trying to drive up the price or generate interest in buying Paramount, which is being acquired for $1.75 billion in cash with talks of selling off divisions and intellectual property.

05:19 Paramount may be sold in a potential merger with Skydance, with other bidders including Sony, Apollo Global Management, Allen Media Group, and Warner Brothers Discovery.

06:47 Paramount is considering selling assets including Pluto TV, VH1, and the Paramount Studio Lot, with potential buyers in play.

08:06 The dog likes Patrick Stewart, but the real news is that Paramount might be sold for parts.

09:24 Paramount is being sold, but with so much content available, people aren't too upset, and John Lasser has joined Skydance despite past accusations of toxicity.

11:30 Paramount may merge with Sky Dan animation, potentially removing John Lasseter and shifting towards a meritocracy in Hollywood, with the speaker preferring the former head of Disney and Pixar to be in charge.

13:00 John needs to stop touching people and wearing Hawaiian shirts, but if he can make us money, then it's all good.

Paramount demanded two horses in addition to the money, and the buyer left. Then, they finally got the joke, and brought a suitcase of cash and a pair of mounts.

I will never forgive Paramount for destroying Star Trek. I hope they are finished as a company forever.

The important question is whatever or not the new owners are woke.

And corporations get bigger and bigger... customer options are getting very limited. This is on purpose.

One of the things that annoys me the most with Paramount and other studios. The only thing they really needed to stream is their old movies/shows. That is one of the things that Netflix did so well when it first started.

It sounds like Skydance is going to get Paramount at a much cheaper price. Paramount wanted more from SkyDance that they were willing to pay. So, Paramount tried to make a deal with MAX. It fell through and Paramount's value plunged. Now, Skydance is in a position to buy Paramount for less than before.

The Movie Industry is going through what the Music Industry went through when NAPSTER showed up. All that corporate greed has ruined the business and now everyone is running for the door. The last one to turn the lights off is the biggest loser.

Merging is a way to bring companies down. It has been done before.

Either way Paramount is getting bought. Redstone clearly wants to cash out and will sell that burning dumpster fire to whoever is interested. But hey, keep giving Kurtzman Star Trek shows because that is clearly going to save them.

They're clearly not buying paramount to keep it a going concern, my bet is that it becomes a desk in an office at skydance's headquarters

I'm expecting it to go the way of Rooster Teeth after Warner Bros. bought them.

The real question is how much debt does Paramount have, that might be why the purchase price is so low.

For everything else I say, it is kind of sad to see such juggernauts of entertainment going down like this. To be fair, while I would have considered Paramount to be as "unsinkable" as something could get, Disney's plight doesn't exactly shock me as they were in trouble before the whole animation renaissance. When I was very young I mostly knew them as someone who made old movies my parents knew that were still sort of good, but didn't have much going for them. I mean I remember trying to watch like "The Disney Channel" when it was impressive that they had a channel I guess, and I remember they like had two good things, anything decent they did seemed to get cut pretty quick (at least by my standards what was good) and they kept running "Donald Duck Presents" as endless filler. Them failing hard again doesn't shock me much.

I think what we're seeing here is a whole era illustrating the perils of the corporate mentality and the hubris that goes along with it. As I've been telling people for a long time, the people at the top of these things would rather see everything burn down than admit they were wrong, or change directions due to the fans. Not long before my time things were different, my Dad for example still seems to think that companies react to negative customer feedback and change despite having seen Budlight tank, when Anheiser Bush should be another iconic "impossible to fall" company. I mean heck, even as it was dying "SEARS" was screaming it was too big to fail... so yeah, seeing Hollywood flame out due to having gotten too overtly leftist and being unwilling to dial back in any meaningful way is not a shock. Those elements were always there, but they let them have too much power, and push way too hard.

The biggest problem I have with this is that there likely won't be any repercussions for those who have destroyed so much Americana. I mean I'm sure new stuff will replace it, and MAYBE the new guard will have learned something, but I wouldn't count on it. The big problem is that the people who destroyed all those lives, careers, and memories by tanking things like Paramount or Disney will just float away on a golden parachute and be untouchably rich for the rest of their lives. I think that lack off accountability for their actions is part of the problem and why so many egos have been able to do this kind of damage. Being able to see people simply as numbers, and insulate yourself from reality, does tend to lead to a degree of sociopathic behavior. I don't think many so called "Masters Of The Universe" think about the people involved as they play with numbers any more than a little kid with a magnifying glass thinks much about melting ants.

I'm not sure how it would happen or could be justified, but I would like to see an era of accountability for the things that have happened over this last decade as we rebuild, as without certain examples being made, I don't think we'll learn anything. If say Bob Iger just gets to walk away from this train wreck he's causing, it's just going to encourage other CEOs to be just as insane and callous.

This shows you how mismanaged Paramount as a whole has been run.
