I’m definitely going to be playing this game.

My dad showed me star wars when I was 4 years old. A few years later when I was either 6 or 7, after my parents divorce I was staying with my dad for the weekend.

He temporarily got a run down trailer and didn’t have cable, but had “rabbit ears” and I’ll never forget him flipping channels and him getting so excited for something. He wouldn’t tell me what it was and made me wait.

We started the temple of doom and a ways into the movie he asked me if I recognized who Indiana Jones was and I didn’t understand what he meant….and then it clicked. I scream “THATS HAN SOLO” and he smiled and laughed so loud and said yeah. That was when I realized how actors worked lol. Its not that I thought it was real, it was just that at such a young age I never really gave it any thought.

My dad passed away in March on 2023. I miss him a lot. He had rough last couple of years with my step mom having cancer, and him having a hard time finding employment to take care of the two of them. I met my own wife and moved out of state. Dad did a lot of reflection in his older age (in his early 60s) and we had a lot of long talks. He was ashamed of a lot of things but at least I was able to let him know about all the things he did right and how much I loved him. It was heartbreaking when he said he not only didn’t know I thought of him that way, but the opposite and that he thought I thought he was a loser. It breaks my heart and makes me tear up every time think of his voice cracking saying that out loud.

My mom and dad stayed very very good friends after the divorce and dad come over and ate dinner and watched tv with me and my mom every night for years until my mom started her substance abuse again and then they both remarried and that caused them to get a bit distant. Plus I grew up and moved away.

But now my mom is sober, my step dad also passed, and mom moved to the town my wife and I live in. Mom and I have started to repair our relationship caused by the substance abuse. My mom and I made plans for her to come over to my house next weekend after I finish my college finals (i went back kinda later in life) and we are going to watch all the movies and she’s going to watch me play the game. We want to spend time together as if it were me and Dad. She knows I miss him and now that mom is sober at least I have one parent back. It makes me happy that she’s trying to fill the void from dad passing and that she can try and honor him like that.

I'm a bit surprised to hear that the game is "open" in a similar way to Dishonored and Hitman, both games I really love. I was expecting that the game was going to be linear. So this has definitely caught my interest.

I think people really underestimate machine games, Youngblood non withstanding they have pumped out nothing but fantastic experiences and most people haven't even played their incredible quake campaigns

We lived in a world for far too long where movie licensed title were a guaranteed horrible experience. Its a genuine breathe of fresh air to hear that this one isn't. I understand its not specifically a movie licensed title but im sure you all know what I mean.

Also. Correct me if im wrong but i just came from your oblivion video and heard you were in the military. I just wanna thank you for your service if i heard you correctly.

The beginning is heavy on eastereggs. You instantly recognize the places at the Marshall college. Remember that chick blinking at Jones with "love you" written on her eyelids?

Thanks for your first impressions. The first three Indiana Jones films are among my favourite films. I'm cautiously optimistic for this game and the character depiction from what I've seen so far of the gameplay and story.
