Hey, Gems and Gents, thanks for tuning in.

Here are some things I wish someone had shared with me before I started my Grad School Program.

I am just a woman of God who loves her family and others. I am a military spouse, a mom of two, and an MSW student. So join me on the journey right here!

I’m in the middle of my second semester of MSW program and I feel alone. I definitely needed to watch or talk to someone who is going through the same journey. I knew this video is old but it’s helpful.
I know no one on a personal level who is doing this journey. Everything you said is how I’m feeling. Many all-nighters aided in my 4.0 last semester. My advanced track MSW program is 18 months. I have 3 more semesters to go. As a mom of three, in a serious relationship, & full time employee, this is a lot! I have one of my kids graduating from 8th grade in a few months. Me and my oldest son is expected to graduate around the same time next year.
I don’t want to see another classroom or step foot in a college setting after this. But I guess I have to for my kids. 😅 someone told me good luck after I said I was in school for my MSW. They said it was because many students don’t make it and/or their mental health is in jeopardy as a result of the amount of work that goes into this. I can see some of my classmates falling apart. Thanks for this video. I feel less alone now

Your channel is a godsend! I'm so happy I clicked on your video. I'm completing my B.S. in Social Sciences (which is SW-adjacent) while concurrently enrolled in a Master's Track certificate program while working f/t. It's... A LOT. The only thing getting me through this is the fact that I absolutely LOVE what I'm learning and doing. Also, I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only person who is interested in community activism-engagement and public policy! We need people at all levels!!

Look at you go Resia! I’m so happy to hear that you’re balancing life well and dedicating time for self care, that’s the most important task as a social worker! Hahaha thanks for warning us about the workload (idk if I’m ready for that) and thank you for being such an inspiring, passionate individual as always! I hope the rest of your year goes well for you, I can’t wait to hear more about your time at Fordham!

Hi. Great information. I started my application for online MSW Program at Rutgers but I'm kinda hesitant at the moment cause I know that a msw program is intense. 😅

Great vid! Love the honesty. I finished my MSW at Western Carolina last year and had all these same thoughts while in the program. Literally 95% of my cohort was interested in clinical SW futures. My undergrad professors only talked about macro SW and never really touched base on clinical, so I didn't even know that MSWs could become therapists. That said, I did end up following the crowd and obtained my clinical license and am super glad I did because I actually do love it (I work in a psych hospital).

Pahaaa girl! When you said the msw experience uncovered something’s about yourself..thats been me as probation officer with high caseload. A client is always slipping through the cracks bc I forget to put a note in, I have notes everywhere . I really do feel like I struggle with focus.

Hii!! Newbie here. Im struggling to find out how im gonna work/school for MSW next year as well. Im currently back in school after years of a hiatus and everything that you’re saying I can say that I definitely have the same experience trying to juggle everything you feel like you are repeating readings and it doesn’t filter out properly in your brain !!!😂 sheesh… but looking at the rest of your videos it seems that you were able to really push through and do well. I’m sure it was definitely tough! Thank you so much for shedding light on this particular topic because all of these videos are helping me with my decision process of what programs I’m interested in and how I’m gonna do an actual life balance. Sending positive light!

Thank you for the video! I can relate to the topics you mentioned. I literally did not have a quality life like a decent human being while doing MSW program at Fordham. Wish you good luck..! 👍

I went ahead and did the 2 years because I knew there was no way I could do the 1 year program. I finished up my classes last week and I’m so relieved it’s over. The 2 year program was also still tedious and jammed pack but still it’s a little less than the 1 year.

Oh hey!! I’m a milso too & hoping to start my MSW in June but it’s asynchronous through UTA. I don’t have any social work background but my BS is in public health so I think there’s some overlap :)
