This video is really helpful to me. I'm trying to learn Russian and French but I just didn't know where to start as there are a lot of Ru/Fre learning materials on the Internet. Which I find the most useful is the part when you're talking about the myth of multitasking. I used to study and listen to music at the same time. I've tried focusing deeply on my study and it actually helped me a lot. Tbh, I'm a bit shocked when this video has only 21 the past 12 hours. I thought it would have at least a few thousand likes.

A really good one. I think that this video is kind of encouragement, because also a teacher can make mistakes.

A learning comment would be to start a personal journal in the target language, and write in the target language every day, even if its just the date. Over time a person should see the difference in entries. Do some role playing, asking and answering questions. Google has an excellent french language app in my opinion. As much of the date should be in the target language as much as possible one day, soon after, write down the question what is today's date in the target language, then answer back in the target language. For duration of study session, write the minutes or hours in the target language. After that work on question words like how long, when did you start or end? Gradually build upon each entry. As the sessions add up, add in days of the week, part of the day, morning, afternoon, evening etc. Soon a learner will add the seasons, there is much more, but this is a beginning, and my curent theory is getting a study routine going where one sees real progress may be the most difficult part of language learning. Thank you. Early on some confidence needs to be instilled in the beginner learner, and to not get hung up on goals, or grammer. Preferably some amount of focused study every day is important, but be flexible. even a few minutes in a day is beneficial. This is not to beat anyone down, however early success breeds more confidence. Once a learner gets pardon the expression, rolling with a study routine, it then becomes an attitude of, hey I really can learn this language and look forward to further sessions, plus mix up what is studied so as to not get stale. Thoughts? Thank you all. Stay safe everyone. In short, the target language becomes a part of a persons life such that a person almost becomes a new citizen of another country and culture! Think about it!😊 A person can learn a language on his or her own. A few books and apps are all that's needed. Always watch the wallet. Maybe become a member of a historical society and get the newsletter, which by itself costs nothing. Youtube videos are very helpful too. No subscription costs, no trial memberships. And good luck people.

Stay focused on the task at hand, let's say for a minimum of 5 minutes at first. The study routine is important to work out, but folks record your study sessions in a journal. Date it, how long, and what was studied. Maybe the most difficult part of learning a new language is getting started. How long, how often, what materials, objective of study session, and it is more difficult when high priority real life matters are weighing on a person.

i’ve been learning languages for the last 7 years as a hobby and the reality is, i’ve studied tons, but my skills could be way more advanced if i had stayed more focused on not multitasking and focusing on one language at hand.
