Sorry for being late to the party. I have just discovered your channel and it is a blessing. There are to few still life channels and I have been binge watching all of your excellent content. To me, flat lay photography simplifies image making, promotes and brings attention to the placement of items and their relationships to one another. It requires a different set of mental muscles to do right. In your image of the cup of coffee the warmth of the garments is enhanced by the muted warm colors, the soft textures and gentle curves. All of which add to the story which you stated at the start.
