I loved the 407 from the first time I saw it. I bought mine in 2009 when it was 3 years old with 28000 miles on it. The exhaust is original, and apart from tyres, brakes, oil changes, and batteries the only part to wear out was the clutch at 84000 miles.
The dual mass flywheel & clutch came in at £989.00. The other part to be wary of is the cam belt total cost £630.00 including water pump and tensioner suggested by Peugeot to change every 112000 miles or 2 years! Try every 4-5 years but fit Peugeot belt.
Overall a fabulous car with plenty of power and great comfort. My tip - do not touch the electrics ie fit spots etc it will unbalance the whole warning system!
PS avoid main dealers their prices are out in space, do like me and find an independent garage with an ex Peugeot mechanic!
