However, when Amy goes missing on the couple's fifth wedding anniversary, Nick becomes the prime suspect in her disappearance. One of the best villains in cinema today. She does what many villians fail to do. She wins at the end.

the look of victory in her eyes compared to the look of subservience and hate in the beginning of the what a talented actress

What’s amazing about her is she wins in every way. She has the man, and sees his misery, cause he knows he will never win. She has the favor of the public. She legally gets away with everything.

And she doesn’t die. He knows what will happen if he kills her, so he never will. She gets to live her life as she sees fit and never worry about a thing, especially guilt.

Very rarely does a villain win in totality.

Finally an ending that leaves the black screen and the music for a while. That has such a powerful touch and impact to the ending. That touch is what I was looking for.

One of the more horrifying endings I’ve ever seen in modern cinema.

Rosamund Pike is so beautiful in that final shot but you can also see the psychosis in her eyes.

The last line just gives the audience a little glimmer of hope for Nick, it's a little harder on his side especially they got a child now and Amy will definitely use that child against him. But on a brighter side, a psychopath can't always hide their true self and will always have slip ups, especially now that she's on a spotlight, people everywhere will see her true side once she make a mistake. Those crooks who robbed her can also basically blackmail her and give out the necessary details to the police if convinced by Nick, which will surely break her story.

That's why this ending is great, it leaves enough details about what's probably about to come to them

For those who said why would he starts a family?
Well
One :- Amy got herself pregnated
Two :- because of it, if nick leaves her, he would be get himself into trouble again, and he just can't be in media's eyes again.

This stuff is scarier than a horror movie.

It's interesting everyone sees it only as Nick putting himself under torture. I saw it as somehow a metaphor on what people want and get out of relationships. Nick is a bit of a couch potato, indecisive, lazy, but he likes coming off like something more. Amy brings that out in him, she keeps him in line and makes him more organized and focused. He feels, dare I say it, protected and safe with her, because he can just be his lazy, semi-charming self and she wants that.

She also wants him for real. She doesn't want to just dominate him for the sake of feeding her own ego, or pathologies. She likes him and wants him. The only "little problem" is she killed someone and is a bit of a psycho, but that's established between them and Nick obviously accepted that he cheated, and he's a bit of a scumbag, and that the order and feeling of being with someone safe and familiar is overall I think more important to him than what she did. And with him, chances are she stays balanced and never hurts anyone else.

It's actually psychologically much more refined than just "the psycho got her way". These two people are made for each other, but it's not the typical romance you'd expect and it's a bit more, IDK, brutal honesty about what some people look for in relationships.

Wouldn’t people be analyzing he’s facial expression after he said she was pregnant

0:08 look at her facial expression, it’s like she’s frozen in time, she’s like a robot, it’s a subtle yet powerful detail

Along side "Eyes Wide Shut" this is definitely the scariest movie I have ever seen. Mainly because both these films are a true look into society.
