The weeks I refuse to go to Disney World

When are the worst times to visit Disney World? I have the experience and the data to tell you when to avoid the most Magical Place on Earth.

You may think anytime is a good time to go to Disney World. But, even as a die hard WDW fan, I have to disagree. There are certain times of the year that going to Disney World is more expensive, more difficult, and way less magical. Time to bust out the crowd calendar!

Join me, James from Guide2WDW, as I share my 7 least favorite times to visit, raking from "eh, I'd rather not" to "hard pass." So you can better plan your vacation, these are I would avoid due to weather, special events, and especially crowds.

The “Attraction Opening” tip is such a very good point. I had gone to Disney World in August when Tiana was open for pretty much 1 month, and Tiana was down for like 2+ hours of the day. I was Group 122 for the Virtual Queue and I was one of the last groups to be called since I got called right after the fireworks show with only 30/40 minutes of park time left. Never play it risky with Virtual Queue rides.

Also, if you’re going to Disney over the summer season, I would recommend going to an After Hours event for your most anticipated park of the trip. Mine was Hollywood Studios and I had such a great time during the After Hours event that I had almost zero stress while visiting during my regular park day the next morning due to the fact that my absolute must-dos were already satisfied and I got the chance to do some again.

The week before Thanksgiving is awesome. You get the tail end of Food and Wine Festival. You get Jollywood and Mickey’s Christmas. Weather is typically pleasant. You don’t get the Thanksgiving crowds.

My sentiment is similar to how some people feel about their loved ones dying. I don't want my last memories at the Parks to be when they're broken and miserable. I want to remember them at their best, and the fun I had with my loved ones. My last trip was at Disneyland in 2018, when my best friend had just graduated college.

I've been there during Christmas, it was good, but never again. I wanted to spend Christmas at the park and I did it, but barely could ride things.

It’s crazy how hard it becomes to try to get an advantage when you have kids. The school schedule is the same for almost everyone so I am stuck going during the super crowded/expensive times or during the super hot times. Time to “get sick” for a week I guess.

Go DISNEY go!! Summer, HALLOWEEN September & October, Christmas follow up to the New Year and January, February & March to leave Canada in the cold Winter! With all the tasty food to eat in the Spring!!!

My guess is the least busy week in 2025 will be the week of may 25th when Univeral opens their 3rd gate. Because it's supposed to be "disney but better"
