A great selection of lenses. A 24-70 and a 70-200 is always a must, but I use the sigma and mark 1 of the 70-200. Would also give an honorable mention to the tamron 17-28 to cover wider focal lengths and a fraction of the price of anything from Sony!

All good choices.... I think you're missing the 24-105. Yeah it's an F4 but combine the great image quality, almost zero focus breathing, OIS and an incredible focal range, this lens is can literally do it all

You take some lovely shots man great compositions and the colour and lighting is super clean. Ps the sigma 24-70 is a Goat

Thanks. Some good choices. I'm lucky to own all of these, albeit my 50mm is the f1.4 (better size IMO and 67mm filter thread matches many other primes). Handy for Mavern magnetic NDs (2, 3, 4, 6 and 10 stops so thats every stop from 2 to 14, bar 11, with one or two fast attach NDs and no colour shift common with VNDs).

Having a matte box (eg SmallRig or Tilta) permits use of high quality fixed NDs and if also rail mounted might also permit using with Sony's GM 14mm? I have so may try experimenting. That said at 14mm, DOF is pretty big so using aperture to drop 1-4 stops is no great hardship.

I'm mainly a stills photographer trying to do more videography and I'm further blessed with more Sony lens options that might find good use- eg GMs 135mm f1.8, 16-35mm mkii f2.8 and a 90mm macro. That said I'd probably try to keep it simple with two zooms 16-35 and 24-70mm and maybe my 50mm f1.4 for subject separation. Not least of which because I'd also need to pack for and handle audio and lighting.

the 14mm is amazing! i recommend to anyone who cant afford it to get the 16mm viltrox, less than half the price and as someone whos used both. i prefer both the character of the 16mm and the ability to use threaded filters @ 77mm, great vid kofi

Thank you for the video. I’m not a video shooter but I am a Sony camera owner and actually have all these lenses or their updated GM II versions. Like your presentation. For fun you should add an honorable mention or for us still shooters identify a photo only lens you like to use but that might be your 50/1.2 GM. For me it’s the FE 135/1.8 GM. Take care.

My choice of 6 third-party FE lenses:
Tamron 20-40 f/2.8
Tamron 70-180 f/2.8
Tamron 35-150 f/2-2.8
Sigma 24-70 f/2.8
Samyang 50 f/1.4 II
Viltrox 16 f/1.8

For around 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost of the native lens setup, and for most situations, these would be very viable alternatives.

New sub here ✋🏾appreciate your content sLim! Just starting out on my cinematic journey and just scooped the Sony 70-200 2.8 ii, can’t wait to put it to use. I am thinking about picking up the 24-70 gm next, but after seeing your footage with the 50mm I’m conflicted 😆 those were some great looking images 🫡

do you have a video about how you get the color of your videos. I like how everything looks black but your skin tones are perfect. If its a LUT how can i get that LUT?

In 7:47 what is the code?
Anyway, I would appreciate if you could expand on why you don't prefer the 50mm focal length - I use the 20, 35 and 85 a lot, and I was thinking of buying the 50.

Again a great Video Kofi!!!
I share your love to prime lenses due to the great Bokeh, the lowlight-performance, the weight and the overall image quality. I also prefer the 20F1.8 over the 24F1.4 because of the wider range, the newer linear autofocus system, the slightly better Image quality and the ultra lightweight for using it in a gimbal. I also like the 14F1.8, the 35F1.4 and the 50F1.2 with their outstanding performance and compact sitze. In addition I have the 135F1.8, which complements the 50F1.2 for portrait shots with an even softer Bokeh by eliminating the background completely and give a closer second shot in interviews. In addition it's the perfect lens for the Bokeh-control effect.
And last but not least I love the 90M2.8 macro lens for great detail shots.

Dope. I have one recommendation for you: Venus Optics Laowa Argus 45mm f0.95. Low light king, very close to the focal length of the human eye. Niche look, one I think suits your style and could give you previously difficult low light shots for very cheap.

what camera bodies do you have? and how many?I think your 14mm and 20 can easily be replaced by the 16 35 gm and you don't need to switch lenses
