This might work, but "Reset All Settings" is going to change a lot more than the audio volume. Not exactly a pinpointed fix.

Guys.. I just realised that the screen recorder is the problem... I just realised that he has a screen recorder on his device.. and so did I.. which meant that that could have contributed to the problem... As soon as I deleted my screen recorder... my volume button was back to normal! So if this hack is not working for you! Then check to see if you have a screen recorder.. if you do... then try deleting it... then check your volume button again.

This happened to mine also so here is a better explanation on what to do
So this bug mostly occurs in MIUI phones so what you have to do is go to Settings > Apps > Management > find System launcher/Poco launcher > Clear the cache
