"The Life Beyond" an Interactive Documentary by Stylianos Papardelas, about the migration crisis in Greece, which premiered (Fall 2022) at the Museum of the Red Cross in Geneva.
About:
A year an a half ago I accepted and proposition from the International Committee of the Red Cross, to create a documentary about the refugee situation in Greece through the work of the organisation. So I assembled a fantastic team with two of my great friends Spyros Roumeliotis (Sound Artist) and Kostas Kiriakakis (illustrator - Animator) and we embarked upon a journey of what came to be “The Life Beyond”. The road was long full of creative and practical challenges. We drove Greece from South to North, we met the most incredible family from Afghanistan that shared their devastating story with us, we got arrested, stuck in the mad, got to hear chilling stories of dead refugees and witnessed some of them as well. We cried and laughed, but most importantly we have learned so many things for the world and for ourselves. We are very proud of our work, because we manage to do it with respect, love and objectivity, but also because we tried our limits and found an almost new way of presenting a documentary. “The Life Beyond” is an interactive, mix media documentary which challenges the norms and ended up being a pure expression of what we felt throughout this experience.
