Why silence is important

Don't underestimate the power of silence when you speak!

Pausing helps increase the clarity of your message by reducing your non-words and filler words, and it gives your audience time to process what you've said.

That’s true. I have followed that rule for 5 months already and I confirm say that it’s true. Also, when you somehow begin to think more clearly…

You're absolutely right, but to feel comfortable in the silent, that's the point.

Filler words are a language vice, and it's perfectly normal to use them from time to time, but the tendency must be their absence and take a pause instead. You're absolutely right.

Thank you for this beautiful content you sharing with me. I just followed you this morning and I have learnt a lot. “Communication is a skill just like every other skill.” What you teach is live transforming. I can imagine how beautiful my life would be if I can just master 5% of what you teach.

Absolutely 💯👍🌷 You have a right to allow yourself to pause and reflect before continuing. And this actually helps others to slow down ❤️

When I was learning how to speak better to people, it blew my mind how much of an impact silence has. I grew up with everyone always trying to talk over all the time, so I thought that's just kinda what you're supposed to do. So when I got into a more relaxing environment, it shocked me how effective silence is for so many reasons, and that so many people just don't allow silence to ever happen.

Thank you for the good tips. I applied them in my presentations and my commentators were left speechless after nailing all their questions, and went beyond that to ask myself questions on their behalf and then answering them. It just leaves more room for improvement.

After I saw this video we had an all hands meeting at my work where our head boss stood up in front of everyone and spoke and I was really paying attention to how many “umms” and “awws” he was saying. If you count them it’s really an unbelievable amount and he’s not even aware he’s doing it. I love your advice. Keep posting videos 👍🏻

@askvinh, what you are describing is called an effective pause in hostage negotiations. We generally use it after an emotionally charged outburst. It gives the individual time to process the information and reassess where they are emotionally. After the pause is a great time to reflect back to them or simply label the emotion. If you want more negotiations info, reach out.

This reminds me of how Milo Yiannopoulos speaks. He is a great speaker.

Very true. I try to fill the silence sometimes but that way people never tell me much. If I make pauses people will start to talk most of the time.
