How to replace ONE piece of Hardwood

If you've ever wondered how to replace a single piece of hardwood in the middle of a room...you should watch this!

My clients moved into their brand-new custom home I built a while back and noticed one of the hardwood boards was starting to check a little for some reason. So, before it opened up anymore and caused bodily harm to someone's foot, I went over to the house and removed the old piece and replaced it with some wood we had left over.

It can be a little intimidating to tear up some brand-new expensive hardwood, and it being out in the middle of the floor. This is actually a fairly simple fix. Not a lot of steps or time. You just have to be careful and precise to have a finished product that looks like you never tore anything out. That is the goal, that no one will notice that any board has ever been replaced. Been doing flooring for a while now, i think you did good, the only thing i reccomend is, when you were beating the cut piece with the tounge cleat nailed, you should have used your oscillating tool to cut the nails from underneith, just have the blade flush with the subfloor and cut those nails on the tounge side will save you a lot of time!

I have enginered hickory on an underlayment over concrete that used Titebond III glue to lock the tongue and groove together.

Will this fix last. My builder did a bad job of selecting and installing wood and now has to fix 20% of the floor. I asking for a complete replacement but he says he can fix it. I very worried that the fixing will not last 20 years like the first hickory floor did before the fire. What do you think?
