Vauxhall Astra 1.4 turbo engine squealing noise problem

Problem engine pulley ?any ideas to the problem from any Vauxhall technicians out there??

Forgot to add, mine is astra j 1.4 turbo, changed the rocker cover in under an hour. Diaphragm fault. Oil and air filling cylinders ruined my spark plugs. Just over a year I have had it 2015 plate 42000 miles. My vectra 2008 1.8 runs like a dream compared to this. It's now on 163000 miles.

The sound comes after the engine is stopped. So it's either something on the engine breather/vacuum system or powersteering pump.

It is the crankshaft oil seal. Replace the seal, job done.

They changed the waterpump, the belt and the tensioner.
The sound did gone away.

Apparently the crankshaft oil seal was leaking. When the oil seal was replaced the squeaky noise stop.

Hey! Do you have news about this problem? I have the same problem. The squealing comes from a dying waterpump. But the "engine off" sound is still there after a change of waterpump, belt tensioner, belt and alternator. I have a loud ticking noise, i think i can here it in your video in the background

I have the same problem on a Meriva B 1.4 t. The car has had the water pump replaced, belt tensioner and the rocker cover. the noise has got louder and I have wasted 600 pounds

Try removing the dipstick . If that cures it, it will be a problem with the breather system building up pressure. I believe they have a problem with the rocker cover.

My astra gtc 1.4 did same noise, weird how it keeps squeeking after the engine stops, it's the alternator pulley needs replacing, it's a one way ratchet device to do with emissions. So when you turn engine off alternator keeps spinning for a while.

Got exactly the same with my astra 1.4 t had new waterpump fitted and new air con compressor by main dealer still got the noise vauxhall technicnians obviously not got a fucking clue

I had esp light on. Burning oil quicker than I could fill it. Choking itself between 2000rpm and 3000rpm, struggled up hill.Same day I changed it. Up to temperature and high pitched squeal which disappears when applying accelerator. Going to replace oil seal alternator pully. Tensioner, idle roller bearing, plugs and coil pack. Cover all corners. Quality built pile of shite.

My astra would start shaking while in idle no warring lights or codes (in traffic ) had the rocker cover with gasket changed about to do a test drive xD


Also air bag warning light on and cannot clear the fault :/ front passenger seat belt
