Chevelle First Generation Differences (1964-1965-1966-1967 differences)

When you see a first generation Chevrolet Chevelle, can you easily know which year is it ?

1964 - 1965 - 1966-1967 has small differences, watch the video...

I owned a 65, a 66, and currently own a 67. They are just beautiful cars

I had a gold 67, base model 2 door, 3 speed on the column, straight 6.
67 was the end of unique Chevelle styling.

66-67 has been my favorite car since I was a kid. My neighbor around the country block had a 66. I saw him at our small town store in it one day. It was red. He had went inside for something and had left it idling. I thought something was wrong with it because of the way it sounded. It sounded like it was going to go dead any second. It sounded like it was going dead every other second because of the loping of the hideous cam. I was like 10. He came out of the store got in and pulled out on hwy 57. He nailed it and pulled the front wheels off the ground. It was like watching in slow motion. I was hooked for life. 454, 4-speed racing slicks. I'm 52 now. I can still remember it like it was last week. Had I know then how much they would be worth and sought-after I would have a barn full of those along with several other cars and trucks. Dirt cheap and everywhere. Had we only known. I hope to own one before I die.

It’s a little surprising Chevy would introduce the wraparound grille on the 66, abandon it for 67, then bring it back for 68-69. Never really thought about that until now. 69 is my favorite, then the 67.

My favorite years of the Chevelle are the '66 and '67 A-bodies, with a slight advantage to the '66. Love the '64's and 65's also. Would love to have a 1966 396-360HP SS 4 speed car as well as a 1965 327-350HP SS 4 speed car sitting side by side in my garage. Gotta win the lottery first 'tho, LOL.

64 & 65 did not have the same back view. 64 had a larger taillight assembly than the 65.

Dodge copied GM's back window style from the 66 and 67 Chevelles and used those same window styles in their 68, 69, and 70 Dodge Chargers.

The 64 and 65 have different tail lights. The 64 has a two piece tail light and the 65 has a one piece. The backup lights on a 64 are in the lower section of the tail lights and on the 65 the backup lights are in the bumper.

All year Chevelle taillights are unique except 71 and 72 are the only ones that's even similar
