Very informative walk. So many issues evident here. Government has failed to secure borders so there are too many illegal immigrants, that overpowers all the infrastructure. Municipality corrupt and failing to maintain roads and pavements. Where there is already litter, people care nothing about adding to it, but where it is clean they tend to be more respectful. This is nothing unique to SA, all huge old cities have scruffy areas. Years ago some parts of Rosebank were just as dodgy, look at it now! On the whole it seems to me that the private sector is slowly catching up and developing and improving many of these overcrowded places. Change takes time. 30 years is a blink of an eye, people are waking up now and realising how goverment needs to be held accountable.
